The top speed that can be reached depends on things like the headwind and the surface. The top speed on tarmac is higher than on the dirt road.

How to Boost Can-Am Outlander Engine and Top Speed

The Can-Am Outlander will reach a higher top speed by increasing the engine and engine related parts. But remember that the UTV is not designed for this, which can cause more wear and tear and more frequent maintenance.

If you still have a factory warranty on your Outlander, I advise against ramping it up. Adjusting your Polaris could void the warranty, meaning if you run into any major issues, you’ll likely have to pay for those yourself. So, first check your warranty before you make the alterations.

There are several ways to make the Can-Am Outlander faster, (but remember, this is at your own risk) including:

1. Better Fuel

To boost the power speed of your Outlander ATV, switch to a higher-octane fuel. Changing to fuel with a higher-octane level will enhance the performance of your engine since the fuel burns more thoroughly. Also, it has a better fuel economy and safeguards your bike because the fuel system’s mechanical components experience less corrosion.

You should notice a distinct performance improvement. Higher-octane fuel may cost a little bit more than conventional fuel, but the response when you push on the throttle is thrilling. Many rig owners increase the octane level themselves because they want a healthier boost than what is available at a gas station.

You can achieve this by simply adding a small amount of fuel to the gas tank and shaking your Outlander back and forth to mix it well. Also, before adding the fuel to the gas tank, you can pre-mix it in a gas can to ensure that your measurements are exact.

2. Tire Size, Weight, and Pressure

Consider a larger tire if you wish to accelerate faster and for a higher top speed. Larger tires turn more forcefully yet go farther per revolution. Also, tire pressure may impact performance depending on the surface. Lower tire pressure makes riding in sand or snow faster, whereas higher tire pressure works better on flat, hard surfaces.

The popular steel wheels with heavy mud tire configurations often reduce the speed of your quad. If you want to speed up your Outlander, think about buying lightweight aluminum rims and good-performance tires. Choose the proper tire size according to your playground or pastime.

3. Adjust the Gear Ratio.

To change the gear ratio, replace either your front or back sprocket. Many owners gear down, which involves fixing a larger rear sprocket to boost acceleration but lower top speed. A smaller back sprocket is necessary for gearing up to increase top speed but decrease acceleration.

The purpose of changing the sprocket size is to alter how closely the engine speed indicated by your tachometer and the travel speed indicated by your speedometer relate to one another. Choose between increasing peak speed or increased acceleration. A clutch kit and sprocket together might produce noticeable results.

The 14-tooth sprockets are the most popular. You can get 14-tooth Chromoly steel alloy front sprockets for between $6.61 and $18.57 and $11.50 to $33.25 for the 14-tooth high carbon rear sprockets.

4. Tuning the Engine Control Module

The Can-Am Outlander’s engine control unit (ECU) determines the top speed. The best method to increase the performance is with an ECU tune-up. It is inexpensive and dramatically speeds up your bike. To remove the speed limits, raise the RPM, and boost the power, get the ECU reflashed or remapped.

You can also disable the speed limiter with an aftermarket ECU flash. So, to boost the power and speed on the Outlander, you can either install an ECU tuner and make the required adjustments or have the ECU tuned by professionals. You can modify features like the speed and rpm restrictions by fitting an ECU tuner

Many owners also keep the engine temperature low by adjusting the radiator fan’s temperature setting for on/off. Additionally, you can adjust the fuel curve and advance the timing to control the fuel delivery at specific RPMs. It can distinctly enhance throttle responsiveness and acceleration.

But an ECU tune-up harbors numerous hazards. Use a professional to avoid harming your Outlander because the installation requires experience. A professional ECU tuning might cost around $400.

5. An Aftermarket Clutch Kit

You can improve your rig response and top speed by installing an aftermarket clutch. The kit modifies your RPM curve to maximize optimal power, and with the right upgrade, you can increase your acceleration and top speed. Usually, the clutch kits come with new springs and weights that alter the self-adjustment timing and speed.

Clutch kits are simple to modify for various riding styles, riding conditions, and engine changes. Using a clutch kit has advantages such as better throttle response, acceleration, higher top speeds, torque, and power. Also, you experience less belt slippage and heat buildup, which extends belt life. You can get a Can-Am Outlander clutch kit for $389.95.

6. High-Flow Air Filters

Your air filter needs frequent checking and cleaning. Your engine suffocates while driving if your air filter is dirty, which reduces the amount of air reaching the combustion chamber. You can replace the factory air filter with a high-flow air filter to boost engine performance. K&N is an established and leading producer of air filters for virtually every Powersports or automotive application.

The better intake allows for more airflow to the engine, and a higher air-fuel mixture equates to more power. It is among the simplest methods for improving your engine performance. K&N high-flow air filters are available for up to $129.99.

7. Exhaust Upgrade

Upgrading the Can-Am Outlander exhaust system is a popular technique to boost the performance of a rig. It allows the engine to expel more and so draws in more air. This setup works more effectively when combined with a high-flow air intake system.

A performance slip-on muffler is a preferable substitute for replacing the entire exhaust system when time or cost is an issue. It is the most popular method because it permits you to swap out your factory muffler for a typically lighter one. Additionally, slip-on muffler feature cores that offer much higher exhaust flow rates than the heavily baffled stock systems.

Yet, though the performance slip-on muffler gives you more power, it is significantly less than you draw from a full-performance exhaust system. For better powerful performance, combine the slip-on or full exhaust systems with a high-flow intake system.

Typically, performance exhaust systems steadily increase in size or diameter over stock exhaust systems, often resembling cones. The shape allows more air to flow through the engine. The richer air-fuel mixture delivers a distinct improvement in both power and speed. Slip-on mufflers are available within the $388.53 price range.

8. Fuel Injection Tuning

To maximize the performance of your engine, you should improve the fuel delivery after improving the intake, exhaust, or both. To enhance your fuel system, you require specialized programmers for the fuel injection systems. Dynojet came up with the popular power sports vehicles’ fuel injection systems. The Dynojet Power Commander V is a versatile gadget that can fit into the current wire harness of your outlander.

It helps you to precisely regulate the fuel delivery to your engine to maximize the power output. You can get the Can-Am Outlander Power Commander V tuner for $431.99.

9. A Big Bore Kit

A Big bore kit can significantly enhance the performance of your rig. It can help you increase acceleration and top speed. In essence, a Big bore kit increases your engine’s cubic capacity. So, you will typically need to swap out the piston and cylinder for larger diameters when you decide to install a Big bore kit.

It boosts your Outlander performance since the kit allows more air, fuel, and mixture into the combustion chamber. Big bore cylinder kits start at around $699.99 for the Outlander 450.
